    When will these non-creatives learn that Word is useless! For a professional job, go to a professional, not a relative that dabbles! How many times I have heard a similar story. I believe there’s an old computer expression that fits: GIGO.

    There’s no pleasing some people - I thought this was hilarious. It’s so TRUE!!! Every other day I get someone wanting to use my artwork for free. They’ll pay for hardware, envelopes, software, hell they’ll even pay someone to clean their office - but they think artists should work for free. You’d think their own inability to create something appropriate would indicate, hello, there might actually be some skill and training involved.

    While I agree with most of what you say, you can teach yourself good design. Its a lot more than just talent. Critical thinking, reading the history of gd, analyzing, compromising, and on and on. There is simply too many facets you would have to be born with to become a designer.

    True. Ever so often you come across someone like this and your mind suddenly has to be cleansed from all the evil you inexplicably start wishing on their person. I simply refuse work from those who are adamant that Microsoft Word is a professional Graphic Designer’s tool, but then I can afford to do that. I really feel for those who can’t
